The Malgraves Herd, established by Sam Squier with the enthusiastic help of his family, is a suckler herd of Pedigree Aberdeen Angus, a breed farmed for superb meat quality and excellent mothering instincts.
Free to roam in the Summer, across unspoilt countryside, the Malgraves Herd has been reared on fresh, lush, river meadow grass and during the winter months the herd is fed on a mix of clover, wildflower and rye grass silage. The rich natural feed allows the cattle to produce a yellow fat and meat rich in omega 3, which cannot be obtained from grain-fed cattle. To ensure the best possible flavour the beasts are slaughtered at the maximum age of 30 months. The carcasses are then hung for up to six weeks, depending on the fat covering on each individual carcass. This improves the tenderness even more, and creates the ultimate taste.
As well as producing excellent beef we rear stock for breeding. We are passionate about improving our herd, to ensure the continued production of natural meat of the highest quality and best flavour.
We believe sustainable natural beef is the way forward and by using the Aberdeen Angus breed it's possible to do so.
